Wow. Talk about really missing the point of this. Speaking for myself, I’m not going to contribute either funds nor time just so that a couple million people in disconnected nations can get access to PornHub.
Purpose of Outernet is certainly not to disseminate pornographic content, and it would be a big waste of limited bandwidth, too, but this topic is nevertheless very important.
We will be setting up an open content selection platform with special emphasis on its openness. The community will be expected to be responsible and fair. Considerate, too, towards the people who need the Outernet the most. While I feel there might be content that should be considered unwanted, it’s not (just) for me to judge. It’s our collective responsibility to bring quality content to Outernet.
Hopefully, Outernet will one day become true Internet, and we won’t have to worry about that anymore.
