While waiting for Outernet contents to get back on track I might try to put my Dreamcatcher into use for some other project. Any suggestions?
I was thinking of maybe have a try at STD-C EGC?

I’ve looked at the same thing…
super keen on this, done a bit of research, reading mainly, about Inmarsat AOR, IOR and POR L-band beams and on-board terminals used on ships.
Would be really nice carring a second DC (or PI+SDRx) dedicated to STD-C EGC…!
Unfortunately I can’t contribute much, I’m many things but no programmer.

Great idea.
Here is some information on how to decode STD-C EGC messages:

All the software I have seen is primarily windows with some java as “possible” support under linux and fee based…
Anyone see any open source options?
Chris
Not yet, but I’m still looking
Looks like techmanoid will run in linux not sure about ARM but shouldn’t be a problem with java. I’m more concerned about being headless and configurable via a config file…
I’ve emailed the developer waiting on a response…
You could install lxde and vnc to configure via GUI
WSPR and ADS-B can be tempting too:

I have a full-time ads-b running on another dc here and one at a remote site… Its a very clean package for that… they feed via tcpip to a virtual radar server setup…
Definitely a perfect application if you don’t have one running already… i’d even say the DC looks and runs like a purpose build appliance for it…

Go here first, if you haven’t done so yet. This where I started.

One thing will lead to another. Decoding of STD-C EGC will not be handed to you freely. (It is free, but you can pay and be a dummy) You have to be a Google detective. I was & successful. When I downloaded a couple years ago, the site said something like “This site has a big virus, leave now”! Just continue. But your PC may have to be fiddled with, security wise. No more questions please,
