Question - Adding WiFi adapter to C.H.I.P

In the documentation, the description of adding a WiFi dongle to increase range implies one only has to plug in the new dongle to a USB hub plugged into the C.H.I.P.

Is this in fact the only step that needs to be taken or is there some configuration that needs to be done?

It should be the only step that needs to be done, but only some wifi radios are supported.
